I watched 500 Days of Summer this weekend- it was MY turn to pick a movie to watch and I have to say, it was an excellent choice! I was going to go opening night (went to Burbank thinking it was playing but later discovered it was only playing in select theatres). Ended up waiting a week and going to the Grove instead.
I love, love, love Zooey Deschanel and have been looking forward to this movie for months. I think this might be my favorite role of hers yet. Oh! and what is the deal with just beginning to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt in movies again?! He is soooo GREAT, I loved him in this film and might just go see GI Joe JUST because he's in it. I loved the sequences in this film, definitely a new favorite : )

Day at the Getty Villa with FIDM
On Friday, our entire office went out to the Getty Villa in Malibu. I had been planning a visit since they renovated but kept putting it off, until now. Of course, on the day I do end up going, I am recovering from the flu, ughh. I still enjoyed myself and enjoyed the beautiful gardens and architecture, the place itself is a work of art, so beautiful!

Project Runway Season 6- FINALLY!
I'm pretty excited about the new season of Project Runway season 6. Ever since the legal battles w/Bravo I've been anxious to know when we would see it on the air again. This will be the first season that PR will be shown on Lifetime, the show's new home, as well as the first season it will be taped at our awesome downtown L.A FIDM campus (how exciting!).
The official website has already posted information on this season's contestants!
Ch-ch-check it out here : )

Today is one of those days I am thankful I do not work downtown. As much as I would have liked to attend Mj's memorial I'm grateful I won't have to be around the masses of people that will be swarming the Staples center....that and also the fact that getting a ticket to the memorial was like getting a golden ticket. So instead, I will be watching a live stream of the events from my desk. I feel bad for anyone commuting to that area this morning : /

An awesome 4th of July
This Independence Day I did what I do best, stimulate the economy! Well, when I'm not paying bills that is.
Spent the morning with Carlos and Steph, had an awesome lunch at Jaragua after walking through all the (closed) stores on Robertson. We then stopped to get my new fav frozen yogurt at Yogurtland (the only bad thing is trying to decide what to get with all the flavors to choose from).
We then headed over to the Tarina Tarantino boutique on Melrose and I bought myself a suuuupeeeeeerrrr cute pair of earrings. Her jewelry is my obsession.. and luckily there was an awesome sale going on, 30% off. With only 5 minutes til closing I was kind of bummed I couldn't look around more...but I at least got the new catalog with the My Pretty collection pictures in it. I'm beginning to collect all the beautiful catalogs along side my growing collection of jewelry ^_^
Later in the evening, the whole gang and I went down to Redondo Beach to watch fireworks. I'm glad I brought a sweater because I nearly froze my behind with the high winds!! I thought summer in L.A was supposed to be warm?

Walking in L.A...nobody walks in L.A (right)
It's funny how despite having lived in L.A for so many years it's still easy to discover new gems I didn't know existed. Carlos and I came across a few awesome places this past Friday when we walked from Hollywood and Highland to Melrose Ave.
We started our walk on Hollywood Blvd and found Charlie Chaplin's studio on La Brea.
It was located on the same lot as Jim Henson Company, we were so stoked and saw that there is a show coming up on July 18th.
After walking a few more blocks (before reaching Melrose) we saw High Voltage Tattoo, the home of the show L.A Ink. The shop was open for business since the show isn't being filmed during the summer.
When we got to Melrose we took a break and had some awesome hot dogs at Pink's. Been meaning to try this place for years but the ridiculous masses of people that stand in line always made me cringe.
Lucky for us we reached our destination- Golden Apple comics- shortly after Pink's. After having seen Blair frm G4 come to this shop, Carlos frantically looked up the address and made it his mission to find this place. It's actually a pretty cool shop with tons of vintage comics and new illustated books. When looking through some magazines with Michael Jackson on the cover, a lady that worked here told us that he used to shop there often. He once had a swarm of stupid paparazzi set up ladders in the front just to get a picture...
On our way back we looked for MJ's star, we knew we'd spot it wherever there was a huge crowd in front of Graumann's. With three guards blocking it I managed to get a quick picture...tons of flowers, signs and pictures everywhere.
